Bridal henna preparation

Just a few things to help prepare before your henna appointment:

  • I prefer applying henna at a table with a comfortable chair, so a dining table would be perfect.

  • Please avoid applying any cream, lotion, or moisturiser to your hands and arms before your appointment, as this can slow down the staining process.

  • If possible, have your shower before we begin, as you'll need to avoid getting your henna wet for the rest of the day.

  • Please make sure your hands and arms are shaved beforehand for a smooth and clean henna application.

  • If you have a hairdryer or heater, please keep it ready during the appointment. Heat helps the henna develop a darker, richer stain.

I'll also need a lemon sealant ready for when we start. Simply mix:
🍋 Juice from 1 lemon
🥄 3 teaspoon of sugar

Mix well until the sugar dissolves. Please don't add any water. Once your henna has dried, I'll apply this mixture to help keep the henna stuck to your skin for longer, resulting in a darker, longer-lasting stain.

Looking forward to seeing you! 🤍

Bridal Henna Aftercare

🤎 Bridal Henna Aftercare 🤎

To achieve the darkest and longest-lasting stain, please follow these aftercare instructions:

Leave the henna on for as long as possible. We recommend at least 6 hours or overnight. Since we're doing your henna in the morning, it's best to leave it on for the entire day and remove it after 6+ hours or before bed.

💧 Do NOT remove the henna with water. Instead, use an organic oil such as coconut oil, mustard oil, or olive oil. Apply the oil generously and gently rub the dried henna off. If you've had Mefix tape applied, most of the henna will come off with the tape. Any remaining pieces can easily be removed using the oil.

Once the henna is removed, avoid water for another 3–4 hours. This allows the fresh stain to continue oxidising and developing into a darker colour.

🚿 After those 3–4 hours, you can wash your hands and shower as normal. If you need to shower the following day, you can apply a thin layer of Vaseline or Vicks over your henna or wear gloves to reduce direct contact with water.

🔥 Keep your hands warm! Heat is one of the biggest factors in achieving a deep, dark stain. Keep your hands warm by:

  • Sitting in front of a heater.

  • Using a hairdryer on a warm setting (not too close).

  • Burning a few cloves on a pan and allowing the warm clove steam to reach your hands.

Try to keep your hands warm as much as possible leading up to your wedding day for the best stain results.

🤎 The henna stain will continue to darken over the next 24–48 hours, with the darkest colour usually appearing on the second day.

Enjoy your beautiful bridal henna! ✨
